One of the most over-used, cliched phrase used in the analysis of a ball game goes something like this: "Team X played/didn't play with a sense of urgency."
It's at the point now where just about any team that loses a game is accused of lacking a sense of urgency. How do we know this? Was the team late in coming out on the field? Did they not drive fast enough on the way to the stadium?
Having said that, as over-used as it is, there's no other way to describe the way the Philadelphia Eagles dispatched of the Dallas Cowboys yesterday, 44-6. As a matter of fact, having watched the way the Eagles played -- incredibly opportunistic on defense, grooved on offense -- I would not be surprised if I found out that Brian Dawkins got a speeding ticket on Broad Street and Donovan McNabb slept on the field the night before.
For their part, it's safe to say the only urgency the Cowoys displayed was on their way out of town.
As an Eagles fan, it was a great game to watch, and if this is the way the team plays on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings, January could be a fun month.
