Consider this time to be an intermission for this day in Philadelphia sports.
The Phillies have beaten the Mets, 6-2 in the first game of today's doubleheader, and not to be outdone, the Eagles have won their game rather decisively against the St. Louis Rams, 38-3. As usual, Jamie Moyer turned in a great performance, seven shutout innings, and in an event that could not be further from usual, an Eagles rookie wide receiver, Desean Jackson, had six catches for 106 yards. Just for good measure, threw in a 60-yard punt return. Again, not usual.
Back to the Phillies, in what might be an important turn of events, closer Brad Lidge was not used in the afternoon game, which should leave him available for tonight's game should the Phillies be fortunate enough to find themselves ahead going into the bottom of the ninth inning.
Our intermission will end at 8:05 when Cole Hamels takes on Johan Santana, a matchup for the ages.

Speaking of Brad Lidge, I've received word that he'll be a guest on a radio show this evening called Country Fastball. You can listen to his pre-taped interview at countryfastball.com at 9 PM tonight. The radio show was recently featured on MLB.com.
