And on the 162nd Day, They Rested

Having clinched the National League East title yesterday, for the second consecutive year, the Phillies are likely to rest a large portion of their core group of players.

Kyle Kendrick, who lost his spot in the rotation several weeks ago will get the start while Cole Hamels rests and prepares for Game 1 of the playoffs.  Shane Victorino will likely sit given his collision with Jimmy Rollins late in yesterday's game.  Today will be filled with names like Golson and Marson and Stairs more than names such at Victorino, Utley, etc.

For the first time since September 30th, 2006, when the Phillies were eliminated from reaching post-seaon play, the lads in red pinstripes will finally play a meaningless game.  Think about that for a second.  Every game for two years has had some degree of significance.

Take the day off fellas, you've earned it.
