In last night's 8-5 win over the Nationals in Washington, D.C., several Phillies did some good impressions while inching into first place in the NL East by half a game over the Mets.
- Brad Lidge as Cal Ripken Jr.: Pitching for the fifth game in a row, Lidge notched the save, as usual. However, word is Lidge has a touch of tendonitis that he is trying to pitch through, which has many phans doing their own imitation, one of Leo Mazzone rocking back and forth nervously.
- Jamie Moyer as a spry 35-year old: The Ancient Mariner just keeps turning in one good start after another. Fortunately for him, be it by luck or design, many of his starts come against young agressive teams that are quick to fall prey to his methodical approach.
- Shane Victorino as the 2007 NL MVP: The Flyin' was 3-4 last night with two singles and a homerun. While not at the very top of the order, one notch down was good enough for Victorino to be an effective catalyst.
With approximately an hour and half to go until the non-waiver trade deadline, the Phillies have yet to make a move. Stay tuned, it's likely the Phils will add a reliever, probably a lefty. Hopefully this pitcher will not attempt any Turk Wendell imitations.
