Amaro Named Next Phillies GM
No, the story was not broken by Comcast Sportsnet, the writers at Philly.com, or ESPN's Jayson Stark. Rather, it was broken by Bob Gordon [who?].
In his recently published book, "Game of My Life: Memorable Stories of Phillies Baseball", Gordon interviews thirty-one Phillies players, broadcasters, and "best friends of the Phillie Phanatic" about their best days connected with the organization. One of the people he features is Ruben Amaro, Jr. and as he introduces Amaro to readers, Gordon states on page 150 that Amaro is "currently the club's general manager".
Of course it's just an oversight or typo, but given how many people view Amaro as not only the future GM after Pat Gillick retires at the end of this season but also as a "co-GM" of sorts with Gillick as he phases out, I thought the error was just too amusing to not mention here.
