Longtime BS&S.com reader Mike H. passes on this link that plots the salaries of baseball teams versus their performance, over time.
If team salary was directly correlated to performance, all of the lines in the middle would be straight across. But instead, we see a lot of heavily slanted lines, which indicates that through of May 13th, there are a lot of expensive teams that are floundering [looking at you Detroit Tigers] and a lot of teams winning on the cheap.
It's quite interesting and it will be even more interesting to follow the trends as the season wears on.
