Oh, those Phillies. They're so funny.
Today, on April Fool's Day, we get to think that yesterday's loss was for real. Remember that joke they played on Kyle Kendrick in spring training? Well yesterday, they played one on all of us.
I can just see Brett Myers on the plane up here from Clearwater, talking to some accomplices on the team:
"Hey guys, what do all the fans and pundits and everyone else worry about with us? That's right, mediocre starting pitching and a horrendous bullpen! On Monday, lets pretend I can't get past the fifth inning, and then when Ryan comes in, you need to get hit pretty hard, give up a few more runs, OK? Jimmy, Chase, I know this is asking a lot, but then you are going to come in and hit home runs to get us back in the game, you know, tease the fans with a little hope. Flash, here's the killer, when you come in, throw nothing but meatballs the size of Grandma Fasano's right down the middle of the plate.
Oh, the fans, they're going to be PUNKED!"
The looks on all of our faces today when the we find out it was all just a cruel joke... Now that will be onehelluva clip on YouTube.
It has to be a practical joke right? Otherwise, how could it go so close to script?
Ahhh, you guys!
