Chase Utley did a chat session on Phillies.com today. An excerpt:
Q: Do you see yourself as a lifetime Phillie?
A: I do. That was the goal when I signed last year for seven years. My goal is be a Phillie now and be a Phillie for life.
In this day and age, it's rare to see iconic players remain with just one team for their entire career. Cal Ripken, Jr. and Tony Gwynn were the last to do so. Utley seems to like it here, obviously the organization thinks loves him or they wouldn't have signed him for seven years, and it goes without saying the fans feel the same way...
...Mr. Gillick, can we extend his contract even longer?
