...Super Bowl: It's nice to see a player of Peyton Manning's caliber win the Super Bowl. I hesitate to say that professional athletes deserve this or don't deserve that, but Manning is going to go down in history as one of the top five quarterbacks in the NFL, and not having a Super Bowl ring almost seems, for lack of a better term, unjust. How ironic that Dan Marino was so prominent at this Miami Super Bowl. Talk about players who should have a ring.
...Luck Stinks: There was quite a finish to the FBR Open, with the lead changing hands on the 71st hole. Aaron Baddeley came out on top, but John Rollins could have easily made it into a sudden-death playoff. On the 72nd and last hole and one shot behind Baddeley, Rollins hit a short-iron shot that covered the pin the whole way. Unfortunately, the ball first hit the flag on the pin, then the pin itself, and richocheted twenty feet away. Had it simply missed the pin, Rollins' birdie-putt to tie would have been just a few feet, maybe even a tap-in.
...Phinally: Jim Salisbury reports that the Phillies are going to have a look at relief pitcher Dustin Hermanson. Veteran? Check. Former closer? Check. Healthy? To be determined. If he is indeed healthy, Hermanson would be an ideal candidate for the Phillies set-up man/back-up closer role.
