...Dan Rubin, the author of Blinq, announced that he has a new gig, metro columnist for the Inquirer. The loss of Rubin would be slightly easier to take if the Inquirer planned on keeping Bling alive in some form, but sadly it looks as if the space on the web will cease to exist. It's too bad, I'm pretty sure one more summer of Rubin at the helm would have made "phloggers" a household name in Philly.
...On the plus side of the equation, a new site has been discovered. Sports is Stranger than Fiction is, as the name suggests, fiction related to sports and the authors promise there will be no cell phone pictures of Wally Backman in a strip club. As you'll see from the picture on the main page and from the author bios, many of the site's creators have Philadelphia roots, stop by and have a look.
...Phil Mickelson broke through and won the Pebble Beach Pro-Am for his 30th PGA Tour win. Since his fateful collapse on the final hole of the 2006 U.S. Open at Winged Foot, Mickelson had a "run" of tied for 65th, tied 22nd, missed cut, tied 16th, tied 54th, tied 45th, tied 51st, and missed cut before winning on Sunday.
...Though I subscribe to the idea that the Indian is usually at fault and not the arrows, over the weekend I was tested on a launch monitor with my driver and several others. In the end, I elected to replace my Taylor Made r5 with a Mizuno MX-500. Am I a hypocrite or just keeping up with the Joneses?
