Phurther Thoughts on Game 1 of 19
How is it that the Mets and Phillies had a playoff game in May? Watching last night's game, that is certainly the way the game seemed to feel. Some thoughts on the Phillies ninth straight win:
- There are reports that X-Rays on Aaron Rowand's hand after the game were negative, which is a positive. What a gamer.
- Brett Myers deserved a win last night. It's possible that the eventual Phillies ace is pitching in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, but for now, it's Mad Myers.
- Myers didn't get a win because someone took over Flash Gordon's body and blew the save. Given that it was a playoff game in May against a great lineup and given the way he has pitched to start the year, I think we can give him a pass.
- Speaking of Gordon, after the game, Comcast ran video of an interview with him where he made it clear that the fans in Philly have treated him just fine, and not the way it has been portrayed in a recent article. I tend to believe him.
- Shane Victorino is also a gamer. Do yourself a favor, go to Philly.com and check out photos 9 and 10 of their slideshow.
- I'm still working on this one, but I am 99% sure Bobby Abreu leads the league in walk-off errors.
- Can you believe there will be eighteen more of these this year? I'm not sure my health can take it. A graphic representation of the game [courtesy of FanGraphs.com], which highly correlates with my heart rate:

Thanks to all those who stopped by last night. I can't promise anything, especially with Lost on this evening, but I may attempt to duplicate the effort this evening. In the meantime, I'll be taking large doses of Advil, Gatorade, and maybe even a nap.
